1. Highways
The city of Marabá, main development center of the region, has a good support infrastructure for mining and metallurgical projects and for pushing the products to the markets.
From Marabá, there is access to the entire highway network, which guarantees the interconnection to the internal market. The external market may be served by the port of Vila do Conde, located 487 km from Marabá and accessible by a paved highway.

2. Electric Energy
Electric energy is available and is distributed by REDE CELPA in the 230-KV tension, of the Eletronorte system, whose main generating unit is the Hydroelectric Power Plant of Tucuruí, 170Km far from Marabá.
The Tucuruí Hydroelectric Plant has an installed power of 4,245 MW. The works for the construction of the second stage of the plant are already under way, and 11 other turbines will be added to the 12 already existing turbines. Together, they will increase the generation capacity to 8,370 MW, in 2006.

3. Ports
The Port of Vila do Conde is 631 km far from the mine and is located at the margins of the Pará river, in the Marajó Bay. Constructed along a great extension of coastal beach, it has 3 docking berths and is equipped for handling bulk cargos. The access is fluvial and maritime, with a 13-meter deep channel.
This port is currently expanding to allow the simultaneous operation of 2 ships with 75,000 tons of bulk. Mineração Buritirama operates its own Shiploader, which guarantees the reliability of the shipments, with a loading rate capacity of 6,000 tons / day.
Mineração Buritirama is investing on its own Port, located near Vila do Conde Port, projected to be aoperative by the end of 2009.
